THIS IS JULIA

The artist Julia McClurg has worn many hats during her lifetime. Punk zine publisher, guitarist and band leader, hair stylist and fine artist.

She created a profitable practice of idiosyncratic, expressive bespoke pet portraits which inspired tributes to her Italian greyhound Lulu Bella.

Fueled by her love of animals, the joy and invaluable they bring to not only their humans but to the world, Julia love’s bringing Lulu Bella to audiences as well as creating custom portraits to immortalize animals of all walks of life.

Julia hopes her whimsy companion portraits, Avant Lu Lu Bella creations  and the memories of them all help to serve a higher purpose.

WHO THE F*** IS LULU BELLA

Lulubella is not just a brand or theme for McClurg. Lulubella was, and continues to be, Julia’s muse, persona, and familiar. Her image is that of an Italian greyhound who won the soulmate lottery when she was adopted by McClurg.

The alchemy created by these two was so contagious, it spilled out onto the beauty products, city buses, and canvases adorned with Lulubella’s iconic image. People have asked, “what is that?” upon seeing Lulubella pictured in converse sneakers, drinking a dirty martini, or luxuriating at a Paris sidewalk café.

But once you see her, you can’t unsee her. She is often accompanied by her bestie Yellow Bird, and the two of them harken back to Snoopy and Woodstock, but with attitude.
